LSU AgCenter unveils strategic plan to enhance global agricultural impact

The LSU AgCenter unveiled its ambitious new strategic plan during National Ag Week, aiming to elevate LSU as one of the nation's premier agricultural institutions. This comprehensive plan outlines strategic goals and aspirational targets designed to address Louisiana's challenges while generating a global impact in production agriculture, natural resource stewardship, human health, and community well-being.

The AgCenter's vision emphasizes the importance of providing solutions that will secure a prosperous future through "Louisiana Solutions." The plan was highlighted during the Ag Magic Baton Rouge event, which attracted over 10,000 visitors, showcasing the AgCenter's commitment to education and community engagement. The event featured 252 school tours, engaging 7,331 students and adults, and demonstrated the significant role of volunteers, who contributed over 2,258 hours valued at nearly $65,000.

In addition to the strategic plan, the meeting also celebrated the success of LSU Alexandria's online programs, which have seen unprecedented enrollment growth, surpassing 7,000 students. Faculty members have converted nearly 400 courses to online formats, reflecting a strong commitment to accessible education.

The meeting also recognized the achievements of LSU Health Shreveport, where 96.1% of medical applicants matched through the National Resident Matching Program, outperforming the national average. This success underscores LSUHS's competitive edge in medical education and residency placements.
