Rockville Center's Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) lottery kicked off with excitement as families gathered to learn about the selection process for the 2025-2026 school year. Assistant Superintendent Marie Dalton led the event, emphasizing the importance of the lottery in providing early childhood education opportunities.
A total of 103 students expressed interest in the Rockville Center Recreation Center as their first choice, but only 72 spots are available. The lottery process was clearly outlined, with Dalton explaining that all numbers would be drawn today, and alternates would be assigned in rank order should any families change their plans. Notably, families with twins or triplets were assigned a single number to streamline the process.
Following the lottery, families will receive an email detailing the outcomes, ensuring transparency and communication. Dalton expressed pride in the district's commitment to early childhood education, thanking families for their support and reinforcing the goal of providing every child with a positive UPK experience. The anticipation surrounding the lottery reflects the community's dedication to fostering educational opportunities for its youngest learners.
