Bonner County's Civil Defense Resilience Team (CDRT) is enhancing community preparedness through innovative training on the Meshtastic/Meshcore communication system. During a recent meeting on April 27, 2025, team members discussed the system's capabilities, emphasizing its potential to improve emergency communication and privacy.

The Meshtastic system allows users to configure nodes with various privacy settings, enabling them to share their location selectively. Participants can choose to broadcast their exact location in real-time or send approximate locations that vary within a specific range. This flexibility is crucial for maintaining privacy while ensuring that essential communication can occur during emergencies.
