Santa Barbara launches Wave Microtransit Service to improve local transportation access

Additionally, the board discussed enhancements to the Line 24x bus route, which connects downtown Santa Barbara with UCSB and Isla Vista. To address gaps in service during peak hours, an additional trip will be added at 4:56 PM, allowing riders to reach downtown more conveniently after work or school.

The meeting also covered fare changes that will take effect on August 18, 2025. The board approved a new fare structure after extensive public outreach, marking the first fare adjustment in 16 years. This change aims to improve service sustainability while accommodating community feedback.
