Linda Glasscock honored with Georgia Animal Control Achievement Award

Linda Glasscock, a dedicated leader in animal control, was honored with the Georgia Animal Control Association Lifetime Achievement Award during the Columbia County Board of Commissioners meeting. Recognized for her exceptional service since joining the department in 2010, Glasscock has implemented innovative programs, including microchipping, and has maintained a remarkable 0% euthanasia rate for nearly a decade.

The award, presented in March, highlights Glasscock's commitment to animal welfare and her success in improving the county's animal services. Her efforts have not only transformed the department but have also led to a high conviction rate in court cases, showcasing the effectiveness of her team's documentation and evidence practices.

During the meeting, fellow commissioners praised Glasscock for her leadership and resilience, particularly during challenging times. One commissioner recounted how Glasscock initially hesitated to take on the role of Animal Services Manager, but ultimately embraced the challenge and turned the department around.

In her acceptance speech, Glasscock expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing that the award reflects the hard work of her entire team, both past and present. The board acknowledged her significant contributions, stating that Columbia County is fortunate to have her at the helm of animal control services.
