In addition to Swan's business, the council also discussed the annual lease agreements for local events. The Staunton Baseball Inc. will lease Moxie Field for the summer season, allowing them to operate concessions and host events, including pregame entertainment. The lease was approved with a nominal fee of one dollar, showcasing the city’s commitment to supporting local sports.
Furthermore, the council approved the lease for the “Happy Birthday America” event, which will take place at Gypsy Hill Park from June 29 to July 4. This year’s celebration promises to be bigger and better, featuring a beauty pageant, a gospel concert, and a performance by Emily Ann Roberts, a finalist from "The Voice."
As the meeting concluded, the council's decisions underscored a strong commitment to fostering local businesses and community events, setting the stage for a vibrant summer in Staunton.
