Mayor Vince Lago and Vice Mayor Rhonda Anderson reelected in Coral Gables elections

The City Council of Coral Gables convened on April 27, 2025, to announce the results of the recent municipal elections held on April 8 and April 22. The meeting highlighted the outcomes of key races, including the mayoral election and city commissioner positions.

In the mayoral race, incumbent Vince Lago was reelected, securing 5,577 votes, which accounted for 55.47% of the total. His main opponent, Commissioner Kirk Menendez, received 3,702 votes or 37.72%, while Michael Abbott garnered 685 votes, representing 6.81%.

For City Commissioner Group 2, Vice Mayor Rhonda Anderson was also reelected with 5,825 votes, translating to 58.24%. Felix Pardo followed with 306 votes, or 37.29%, and Lorena Ocasio received 447 votes, equating to 4.47%.

The election for City Commissioner Group 3 required a runoff due to no candidate achieving a majority in the initial vote. In the runoff held on April 22, Richard Lara won with 4,358 votes (55.38%), defeating Tom Wells, who received 3,511 votes (44.62%).

These election results reflect the current political landscape in Coral Gables, with incumbents maintaining their positions in key roles. The council's meeting underscored the importance of civic engagement and the electoral process in shaping local governance.
