Timing and implementation concerns

Committee members asked about the project timeline and local permitting. Housing Division staff said the land purchase is recorded and the city of North Las Vegas has convened a housing task force to expedite planning, zoning and utilities reviews; staff said the developer and division have conducted required neighborhood meetings. The subcommittee approved the bulk of the OSHA/mechanical compliance staffing package intended to raise inspection capacity. That package included funding for up to 23 new positions overall: additional industrial hygienists and administrative assistants to expand inspection teams in Las Vegas and Reno; two safety specialist boiler positions and two safety specialist elevator positions to address increases in boilers, pressure vessels and elevators requiring inspection; and a recommended new database for licensing, permitting, inspections, notifications, compliance and payments. The subcommittee approved an allocation from the Workers' Compensation and Safety Fund to contract for a medical fee reimbursement rate study to compare reimbursement rates for services furnished to injured workers; the fiscal analyst noted the last study was done in fiscal year 2015 and the procurement and any resulting rate changes would occur after June 30, 2026.

Housing accounts and grant programs

The Home Means Nevada initiative received continued ARPA authority consistent with the governor's recommendation to continue funding through Dec. 31, 2026.
