Sewanhaka CHSD celebrated remarkable achievements at its recent Board of Education meeting, highlighting the outstanding accomplishments of students in various competitions. The spotlight shone brightly on the Suwanika students, who excelled in a statewide competition focused on college and career readiness skills in family and consumer science. Notably, twelfth grader Win La earned gold status in personal finance, while fellow students Shalene Simsek, Ariana Flores, and Jade Gomez were recognized for their exceptional skills in chapter service display and interview skills, respectively. These students will represent New York State at the national conference in Orlando, Florida.
The meeting also showcased the district's robotics club, which made history by qualifying for the World Championship in Houston after competing in the Long Island Regional First Tech Challenge Championship. The team, led by Mister Chen, finished sixteenth out of 64 teams, demonstrating innovation and teamwork.
