Scott Brown presents Olentangy School District with Auditor of State Award for Excellence

The Olentangy School District received high praise during a recent Board of Education meeting, where it was awarded the Auditor of State Award with Distinction. This prestigious recognition, presented by Scott Brown, the central Ohio liaison for the state auditor, is given to only 4% of local governments and school districts that achieve a clean financial audit. The award highlights the district's commitment to fiscal accountability and transparency, reflecting the hard work of its staff and finance department.

Treasurer Ryan Jenkins was specifically acknowledged for his leadership and dedication to maintaining financial integrity. Brown emphasized that the award is a testament to the entire district's efforts in ensuring responsible management of taxpayer resources. Notably, Ben Kurian, a student from Olentangy High School, won first prize in the C-SPAN documentary competition for his work on traffic safety, which included innovative ideas on using AI to enhance road safety. His documentary was recognized among over 3,500 entries nationwide.

The Board also highlighted the contributions of the Business Advisory Council, which has been instrumental in connecting students with local businesses for internships and job opportunities. This partnership aims to enhance educational experiences and prepare students for future careers.

Furthermore, the district celebrated its commitment to military families, with 22 schools receiving the Purple Star designation, recognizing their efforts to support military-connected students.
