City plans 25 days of road closures for summer events and community services expo

Temecula's Old Town will experience a streamlined approach to road closures this year, with a total of 25 days designated for events, down from previous years. The Local Advisory Committee discussed this reduction during their meeting on April 24, 2025, highlighting the combination of events to minimize disruptions. Notably, the health fair and national preparedness fair will now occur as a single event, and the summer concert series will align with the popular sunset market, which will run from May to October.

The committee also addressed the upcoming Cartoonapalooza Art Festival, which may be relocated indoors to accommodate a shorter duration, as requested by the event organizer. This change aims to enhance the festival experience while managing road closures effectively.

The meeting provided a detailed overview of the planned road closures for various events, including the CultureFest on May 17 and the annual Rod Run on May 2 and 3. For the Rod Run, road closures will begin as early as 4 AM on Saturday, with efforts in place to ensure traffic flow returns to normal by 5 PM the same day. The committee emphasized collaboration with Public Works and the Riverside Sheriff's Department to manage traffic and minimize congestion, particularly during the cruise night event.

In addition to these changes, the committee discussed parking arrangements to better serve residents and visitors. The senior center parking lot will be designated for residents, while other lots will remain open for event attendees, ensuring accessibility during busy periods.
