Rexburg City Council is moving forward with a significant grant application aimed at enhancing the Rexburg Tabernacle city center. During the meeting on March 5, 2025, Tacy Stoddard from Altura Community Consulting presented details about the application for funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The proposed project includes the installation of a new HVAC system for the city center, with a total project budget of $860,500. This budget comprises $245,000 from the CDBG funds, $616,000 in city cash, and $7,500 in city in-kind contributions. If awarded, the city plans to begin design work in the fall of 2025, with construction expected to be completed by spring 2026.
