The Gadsden Independent Schools Board celebrated the achievements of outstanding students during their recent meeting, highlighting the academic excellence and extracurricular involvement of several seniors from Santa Teresa High School.
Emma Martinez, a dedicated student with a 4.42 GPA, was recognized for her involvement in varsity basketball, softball, student council, and ROTC. She has received multiple scholarships, including the Daniels Scholarship and the NMSU Huntley Scholarship, as she prepares to pursue a degree in pre-medicine.

Subscribe for Free Maya Castro, another exemplary student, boasts a 4.44 GPA and serves as the senior class president. She has been active in the National Honor Society and the volleyball team throughout her high school years. Maya plans to attend the University of New Mexico to study nursing and has been awarded the Gaston Foundation Scholarship.
Katia Loma Nivera, with a 4.44 GPA, has excelled as vice president of the National Honor Society and editor of the yearbook. She has received recognition from the College Board for her achievements and intends to pursue a degree in math with a focus on biomedical or aerospace engineering at the University of San Francisco, also earning the Gaston Foundation Scholarship.
Lastly, Carol Holge, who has a 3.62 GPA, has made her mark in the Spanish club and SkillsUSA, winning medals in technical drafting and advertising design. She plans to study architecture at the University of New Mexico and has also been awarded the Gaston Foundation Scholarship.
