Saint Mary's Alumni Foundation plans scholarship and military service recognition initiatives

A notable example shared was that of Richard Bouchon, a St. Marys graduate from 1941, who had a distinguished military career. Bouchon served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, completing 28 bombing missions over Germany. He continued his service until 1974, including flying fighter jets in Vietnam. Recently, he turned 102 years old and remains active in a museum dedicated to his bomber group.

The council discussed collaborating with Bouchon to acquire memorabilia for the proposed museum, which would serve as a tribute to the sacrifices made by local veterans. This initiative aims to foster community pride and ensure that the stories of these individuals are preserved and celebrated.
