City Council approves preliminary site plan for Water Tower District phase two

Collierville's Board of Mayor and Aldermen made significant strides in urban development during their April 28, 2025, meeting by approving the preliminary site plan for the Water Tower District Phase 2. This decision is expected to enhance the area’s infrastructure and community amenities.

The board discussed the importance of landscaping around the trash compactor, a concern raised by the Design Review Commission (DRC). It was noted that while the preliminary plan includes these considerations, further evaluation will occur during the final site plan stage. However, officials cautioned that once the preliminary site plan is approved, the ability to make adjustments is limited under the vested property rights act.

Alderman Jordan raised questions about the approval process, specifically regarding the connection to Cerulean Way and its relation to previous phases of development. It was clarified that this connection was already approved with Phase 1 of the Water Tower District, and the current motion pertains to Phase 2.

The board unanimously moved to approve the preliminary site plan, which includes 37 conditions set forth by the DRC and planning commission. The applicant confirmed their agreement to these conditions, ensuring that all concerns have been addressed.
