Commissioner Lawrence promotes mental health coverage awareness in Tennessee

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) held a meeting on April 29, 2025, where Commissioner Carter Lawrence emphasized the importance of mental health awareness during Mental Health Month. Additionally, the number of days covered for hospital stays must be consistent for both mental and physical health treatments. He noted that various treatments, including step therapy, counseling, medication management, and both inpatient and outpatient care, are included under this coverage.
