Tampa City Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing residential development in the Davis Islands neighborhood by approving a rezoning request that will allow for the subdivision of a large lot into two single-family parcels. During the meeting on April 24, 2025, the council voted unanimously to rezone the property at 118 Bosphorus Avenue from RS 60 to RS 50, aligning with the city’s comprehensive plan and promoting infill development.
The proposal, presented by architect Alex Rios, aims to create two lots approximately 50 to 56 feet wide, consistent with the established lot pattern in the area. Rios emphasized that the request is compatible with the surrounding development, which includes higher density residential zoning nearby. The rezoning is expected to provide additional housing options while maintaining the character of the neighborhood.
