BRCC Bears men's basketball team wins second consecutive LCCAC Championship

Baton Rouge Community College's men's basketball team is receiving high praise from the Louisiana Legislature following a remarkable season that culminated in their second consecutive Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) Championship. House Resolution 72, introduced by Representative Marcelle, commends the Bears for their outstanding performance, which included a school-record twenty wins against only eight losses.

The Bears showcased their dominance with a fourteen-game winning streak, the longest in the program's history, and an impressive 13-2 record at home. Their undefeated 6-0 record in conference play not only secured them the championship title but also allowed them to advance to the second round of the Region 23 Tournament for the second year in a row.

Head Coach Byron Starks received accolades as both the LCCAC Coach of the Year and the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches (LABC) Coach of the Year, reflecting his successful leadership and the team's continuous improvement. Additionally, standout player Kialen Philips was named LCCAC Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Region First Team, highlighting the talent and depth of the Bears' roster.
