Bellevue University is poised for significant growth, aiming to expand its student enrollment to 25,000 over the next few years, as discussed by Jim Nekuda, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, during a recent government meeting. Currently serving approximately 37,000 students annually, the university plans to achieve this goal through a steady annual growth rate of about 5%, driven by the introduction of new academic programs.
A key focus for Bellevue University is the expansion of its healthcare offerings. Nekuda highlighted the critical shortages in the healthcare sector and the university's commitment to developing clinical programs, including a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program. While the implementation of these programs will take time due to accreditation and facility considerations, the university is dedicated to addressing the growing demand for healthcare professionals.

This diversification aims to support students seeking advanced education and certification.
Nekuda also announced an innovative initiative to enhance campus life by introducing a food truck, which aims to provide convenient dining options for students and staff. Furthermore, the university is in the process of developing athletic facilities, including a field house, to foster community engagement and support student activities.
Financially, Bellevue University remains resilient, not relying on federal funds and seeing a decrease in the percentage of students on financial aid—from 60% to 35%—as more students access tuition assistance from their employers. Nekuda emphasized the importance of employer investment in education, noting that robust tuition assistance programs not only alleviate student debt but also enhance employee retention and attraction.
As Bellevue University continues to grow and adapt to the needs of its students and the community, it remains committed to providing quality education and support, ensuring a positive impact on the local workforce and economy.
