West Bend School Board honors retiring educators for years of dedicated service

The West Bend Joint School District celebrated the contributions of several retiring educators during its recent board meeting on April 28, 2025. The meeting, which was properly announced and attended by a quorum of board members, began with the approval of the agenda and a warm welcome to new board member Joe Pickler.

The highlight of the meeting was the heartfelt recognition of retirees who have dedicated years of service to the district. Among those honored was Jason Penterman, who has been a pivotal figure in the Badger Language Arts team since 2001. His commitment to student advocacy and educational excellence has left a lasting impact on the community.

Michelle Laufer, another retiree, has spent over three decades inspiring students in mathematics. Her supportive nature and dedication have made her a cherished member of the Badger team. Tracy Gross, the administrative assistant at McLean, was also recognized for her exceptional leadership and organizational skills over the past 17 years.

Rob Nichols, a long-time educator at Silverbrook, was celebrated for his extensive contributions to both academics and athletics, including coaching various sports teams. Lastly, Sally Hoyer, a beloved family and consumer science teacher, was honored for her nearly 35 years of service, during which she developed impactful programs that enriched students' lives.

The board expressed gratitude for the retirees' dedication and the profound influence they have had on students and the community. As these educators transition into retirement, their legacies will continue to inspire future generations within the West Bend School District.
