Maynard Town Meeting approves $470000 for HVAC replacement at Town Hall

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, the Town Hall of Northborough buzzed with anticipation. This situation was not only uncomfortable but also posed risks, especially after a recent failure of the air conditioning unit in the critical server room of the MIS GIS departments.

Charpentier emphasized that the request represented gap funding from previously approved articles, noting that the original estimate was $30,000 higher. However, after consultations with design engineers, the cost was reduced, making the project more feasible. He reassured attendees that the town would remain at its current location on Main Street for the foreseeable future, making the HVAC upgrade a necessary investment.

The Financial Planning Committee and the Appropriations Committee both voiced their support for the article, recommending its approval by majority votes. This endorsement highlighted the importance of the project in ensuring a comfortable and functional workspace for town employees.

As the discussion continued, a resident raised a question about the type of HVAC system being proposed. Charpentier confirmed that the plan included mini-split systems, which are known for their efficiency and effectiveness in providing heating and cooling.
