Canyon City High School JROTC bridal team recognized for national achievements

During the recent Fremont Re-1 Board Meeting held on April 28, 2025, the board took a moment to honor the achievements of the Canyon City High School JROTC bridal team. This recognition highlights the team's impressive performance in national competitions, showcasing the dedication and resilience of its members.

The JROTC bridal team, which includes standout athletes such as Blake Hansen, who achieved personal bests in his first year on the varsity team, demonstrated remarkable skill and perseverance. Despite facing challenges, team members like Maddie Taylor and Jaren Mata showed exceptional growth, with Mata finishing in the top 15% of competitors during the second day of the competition.

The team's accomplishments include placing 80th in the nation overall, 20th at the service championship, and 36th at the Western Regional. These results reflect not only the individual talents of the athletes but also the strong support and training provided by Canyon City High School's JROTC program.

The board presented certificates to the team members in recognition of their hard work and achievements, further emphasizing the importance of extracurricular programs in fostering student development and community pride.
