Newport aims to secure funding for critical dam and water infrastructure projects

Newport City Council is taking significant steps to address the city's utility challenges, particularly concerning water infrastructure and affordability for residents. During a recent budget workshop, officials discussed a multi-year approach to utility rate adjustments aimed at minimizing financial impacts on fixed-income residents.

The council is implementing a phased rate case, which began in March and will continue with further steps planned for July.
