Flint Hills Technical College launches precision agriculture program with drone applications

Chase County's economic future took center stage during a recent meeting, where local leaders discussed the launch of a new precision agriculture program at Flint Hills Technical College. This innovative curriculum, set to begin this fall, aims to equip students with essential skills in drone applications, geospatial positioning, and data analytics, addressing the growing needs of the agricultural sector.

The program's introduction comes at a critical time, as the college faces increasing enrollment and a pressing demand for skilled workers in various industries. Notably, the average associate degree graduate can expect an annual earnings boost of $7,600 compared to those with only a high school diploma, highlighting the economic benefits of higher education for both individuals and the community.

In addition to the precision agriculture initiative, the college is planning a capital campaign to expand its facilities. Current programs, particularly in industrial engineering technology, are at capacity, with students on waitlists.
