SUNY Sullivan hosts open campus day showcasing local vendors and student achievements

Scheduled for May 15, 2025, from 11 AM to 3 PM, the college will welcome residents to explore its campus, featuring 30 vendors showcasing crafts and treats. This free event aims to strengthen community ties and celebrate the end of the semester, culminating in a nursing pinning ceremony and graduation just two weeks later.

Adrienne Lee, a second-year graphic design major and student trustee, took center stage during the meeting, sharing her transformative journey at SUNY Sullivan. She spoke passionately about the warmth and inclusivity of the college, contrasting it with her previous experience at RPI in Troy, where she felt disconnected from campus life. "The potential for a student to get involved felt so much larger here," she remarked, highlighting the importance of community engagement in shaping a positive educational experience.

Lee's leadership and involvement have not only enriched her own college experience but also fostered collaboration among students and faculty. She emphasized the significance of student voices in shaping campus policies and programming, urging continued investment in student engagement to cultivate a thriving community.

As discussions turned to the state budget, the college's leadership expressed optimism about securing funding for community colleges, including proposals for free community college for adults aged 25 to 55. While details remain to be finalized, plans are underway to enhance student support services and extend class offerings in the upcoming fall semester.

In a nod to public health initiatives, the college is also exploring the installation of a vending machine to distribute free health kits, further demonstrating its commitment to student well-being.
