Texas Young Lawyers Association welcomes new members during swearing-in ceremony

Help is on the way for Texas's newest lawyers, as the State Bar of Texas unveiled vital mental health resources during the New Lawyer Induction Ceremony on May 1, 2025. Chief Justice Blacklock emphasized the importance of support, urging new attorneys to utilize the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP) and a complimentary month of online therapy through BetterHelp, with a 15% discount for continued services.

In a heartfelt address, Chief Justice Blacklock congratulated the new lawyers, stating, "We are all extremely excited and proud to welcome you as the newest Texas lawyers. We are with you now, and we will be with you every step of the way along this journey." This sentiment was echoed by Hisham Masri, president of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, who welcomed the inductees into a community of approximately 16,000 active lawyers serving a population of 30 million in Texas.

Masri drew an engaging parallel between the legal profession and the competitive world of gaming, likening lawyers to the elite players who reach the "legend" rank in games like Hearthstone. He encouraged the new lawyers to view themselves as "legends of our society," highlighting the critical role they play in upholding justice and supporting one another.
