City Council approves bids for Community and Gamble Park construction projects

During the recent Planning and Zoning Commission meeting in Haslet, Texas, significant discussions centered around community park improvements and ongoing construction projects that directly impact local residents.

One of the key topics was the status of the Community Park and Gamble Park construction projects. The city has put these projects out to bid, and the council is set to award contracts for necessary repairs and enhancements. These improvements include addressing drainage issues on the community park trail and reconstructing parts of the trail itself. Additionally, Gamble Park will see the addition of a new picnic pavilion, measuring 12 by 12 feet, along with two covered benches, enhancing the park's amenities for families and visitors.

Another important discussion involved the ongoing construction project related to the extension of a roadway to the western city limits. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has suspended the current contract but plans to re-bid the project in about a year and a half. This project aims to extend the roadway across the railroad tracks and to the western limits of Avondale Haslet. While the original design is set to remain at grade, there is an intention to incorporate a bridge in the new contract, which could significantly improve traffic flow and safety in the area.

However, residents should be aware that the timeline for these developments remains uncertain. The completion of the project could take up to three years after the new contract is awarded, with no firm dates currently established by TxDOT.
