Hyde Park middle school construction stays ahead of schedule amid notable progress

The construction of two new middle schools in Utah is progressing well, with both projects ahead of schedule, according to updates shared during the recent School Board meeting on May 1, 2025. The construction team reported that the Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) for the buildings were completed on time, with significant advancements in roofing and brick veneer installation.

At the Hyde Park site, the roof deck is nearly finished, and interior work, including electrical and plumbing, is well underway. This school is estimated to be one to six weeks ahead of the Nibley site, where the ICF is expected to be completed by mid-May. Both schools are on track, with the Hyde Park project showing more progress in interior construction.

The brick veneer installation is transforming the exterior appearance of both buildings, giving the community a glimpse of the final design. The construction team anticipates that drywall installation may begin as early as late May or June, further advancing the projects.

In addition to construction updates, the meeting addressed a recent accident involving a subcontractor on the job site. While details were limited, reports indicated that the individual is awake and alert, with a potential release from medical care expected soon.

The board also discussed the budget for the new elementary school, which recently received bids totaling approximately $25.3 million, slightly exceeding the budgeted amount of $25 million. The team is currently reviewing the bids to finalize the project costs.
