The Planning Commission meeting held on May 1, 2025, in Smyrna, Tennessee, focused on several key agenda items, including the proposed Woodmont amenity center and a review of the May bond report.
The first item discussed was the Woodmont amenity center, which is being developed by Meritage Homes of Tennessee Inc. This facility will be located within the Woodmont subdivision, specifically in Phase 9. The plan includes the construction of two structures: a pool house and an amenity building, along with an envisioned pool. Access to the site will be provided via Blue Diamond Drive.

The proposed plan shows 3,482 square feet of landscaping, with approximately 21 parking spaces, including one designated handicap space. The landscaping plan features streetscaping along Blue Diamond Drive, incorporating a mix of oak trees and various shrubs, with additional trees around the parking lot and amenity space.
Architectural elevations for the buildings indicate a design that includes fiber cement board, siding, and brick, ensuring consistency with the existing residential development. However, several standard comments from staff remain to be addressed. Notably, the plat for this area has not yet been recorded, which is necessary for the building permit. Adjustments to the addressing for the area will also be required to accommodate the new buildings and any future uses. Comments regarding impervious space and connections to the sanitary sewer system have been resolved.
After a brief discussion, a motion was made to approve the site plan with the remaining staff comments. The motion received a second, and the commission unanimously approved the site plan.
Following the approval of the amenity center, the meeting transitioned to the May bond review report, beginning with Cedar Hill Section 4 Phase 2, which has been under consideration for a couple of years. The commission is expected to continue reviewing this and other related items in the upcoming discussions.
Overall, the meeting highlighted significant developments in the Woodmont subdivision and set the stage for future planning initiatives in Smyrna.
