In a recent meeting of the Mendocino County Planning Commission, a comprehensive master plan for park upgrades was unveiled, promising to enhance community amenities and accessibility. The proposed project aims to revitalize existing facilities while introducing new features that cater to a diverse range of park-goers.
The plan includes significant upgrades to current amenities, such as expanding and repaving parking facilities to increase capacity from 20 to 47 stalls, including four designated for individuals with disabilities. The existing fence around the park's man-made pond will be replaced, and the damaged boardwalk will undergo reconstruction. Renovations will also touch on picnic areas, ensuring they are accessible to all visitors.

The playground will receive inclusive play equipment, making it more welcoming for children of all abilities. Walking paths throughout the park will be repaired and enhanced with ramps for better accessibility.
In addition to these upgrades, the plan introduces several new amenities. Outdoor fitness equipment will be installed in multiple locations along the walking path, encouraging physical activity among visitors. Two new picnic areas will be constructed, one centrally located and another near the park entrance. A half-acre fenced dog park will also be established, providing a safe space for pets to play.
To ensure safety and security, the plan includes the installation of security lighting throughout the park and updates to the water and electricity infrastructure to meet current codes. These enhancements reflect a commitment to creating a more inclusive and enjoyable environment for all community members.
As the Planning Commission moves forward with this ambitious project, residents can look forward to a revitalized park that not only preserves its natural beauty but also enriches the community's recreational offerings.
