Superintendent outlines May events including prom and graduation ceremonies

The School Board Committee Meeting held on May 1, 2025, focused on the upcoming events and important dates as the academic year approaches its conclusion. Superintendent Santucci provided an overview of the remaining school days, noting that there are 17.5 days left in the school year, with no make-up days required due to a recent storm.

Key highlights from the meeting included the announcement of the "Arts Alive" event scheduled for May 5, which aims to celebrate student creativity. The NHEA Excellence Awards will take place on May 8, recognizing outstanding student achievements.

In preparation for prom season, a mock crash demonstration is set for May 9 at the high school to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. The junior-senior prom will be held at Accu Shore Stadium on May 10.

The music department will embark on a tour from May 16 to May 19, culminating in a festival in Sandusky, Ohio. Notably, there will be no school on May 20 due to Election Day.

The last day of school is scheduled for May 29, which will also feature the eighth-grade academic awards assembly. Dismissal times for that day were provided for each school.

Transition activities for fifth graders moving to middle school will occur throughout the week of May 6, with visits from various elementary schools. Track and field day is planned for May 19, with a backup date of May 22 in case of inclement weather.

Seniors will celebrate their futures on May 2 with a declaration day, where they can wear apparel representing their post-graduation plans. Additional senior events include a college-bound student athlete recognition program on May 12, senior awards night on May 19, and the annual clap out and senior breakfast on May 27. Graduation practice will take place before the commencement ceremony on May 30 at 7:00 PM.

Looking ahead, the superintendent announced a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Westview Elementary School on August 6, pending completion.
