Arlington ISD appoints Taina Northington as new communications officer

The Arlington ISD Board of Trustees meeting on May 1, 2025, kicked off with an enthusiastic welcome for Taina Northington, the district's new communication officer. Northington, an award-winning communications professional with a rich background in public education, previously led a successful team at Killeen ISD, earning over 75 Gold Awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association. Her innovative campaigns and strategic marketing initiatives have significantly raised the visibility of her former district.

In her opening remarks, Northington expressed her excitement about joining Arlington ISD and highlighted her commitment to enhancing connections between the district, students, families, and the community. She shared her recent experiences, including attending the Arlington ISD art show in partnership with the Dallas Cowboys and Whataburger, where three scholarships totaling $15,000 were awarded to seniors.

Northington also acknowledged her dedicated team members, emphasizing their collaborative spirit as they embark on various upcoming projects, including a marketing plan and pre-K enrollment initiatives. She encouraged the community to engage with the district through social media, marking the beginning of her impactful journey in Arlington ISD.

Following her introduction, the meeting transitioned to a public hearing on the effectiveness of the district's accelerated instruction programs, aligning with Texas Education Code requirements.
