The board unanimously approved the adoption of Benchmark Advance, a high-quality reading program for grades K-5, emphasizing the importance of reading in the educational system. This decision aims to provide students with effective instructional materials that support their literacy development.

In addition to the curriculum update, the board discussed significant financial support for its employees. Pending approval from Governor Youngkin, HCPS anticipates receiving $761,161 in state funding for a one-time bonus of $1,000 for each funded instructional and support position.
