Firefighter Paramedics assist childbirth outside Town Hall in emergency response

In a remarkable incident that unfolded in the early hours of May 5, 2025, the Fountain Hills Fire Department responded to a childbirth at Town Hall, showcasing the dedication and skill of local emergency services. Firefighter paramedic Jay Shintaku recounted the experience, highlighting the unique circumstances surrounding the birth of a baby girl in the parking lot of the town's administrative center.

The call came in the middle of the night, prompting Engine 4 and AMR341 to rush to the scene after a couple, unsure of the mother's abdominal pain, decided to drive to the emergency room. They stopped at Town Hall to call 911 when the situation escalated. Upon arrival, the firefighters found the mother comfortably cradling her newborn in the passenger seat, with the father providing support from the driver's seat.

Shintaku described the scene as heartwarming, noting that while most emergencies involve distress, this was a joyous occasion. The team quickly assessed the situation, ensuring there were no immediate life threats before assisting the mother onto a gurney while she held her baby. They provided life-supporting care during the transport to the hospital, ensuring both mother and child were stable and safe.
