Navarre Park undergoes repairs and improvements after Hurricane Sally damage

Navarre Park is set to undergo significant improvements, with construction already underway on repairs to the playground and splash pad, following damage from Hurricane Sally. The Santa Rosa County Sales Tax Committee confirmed that the project includes fixing sidewalks, brick pavers, and removing a damaged pier, all of which are crucial for enhancing the park's safety and accessibility.

The timeline for these repairs has been lengthy, attributed to the necessary permitting processes with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). A contractor has finally been secured to carry out the work, highlighting the often slow pace of government projects.

In addition to the park updates, the committee discussed the development of new football fields at Joppa. The current fields are situated in a wetland area, presenting challenges for playability. Plans are in place for a new practice field, which will eventually serve as a competition field, with lighting installation already in progress.
