Long Beach hosts Beach Streets and Asian American Heritage Month activities

The Long Beach Brief on May 5, 2025, highlighted several community-focused initiatives and events aimed at promoting outdoor activities and cultural heritage. Nadia Hill opened the meeting by announcing that May is Bike Month, encouraging residents to engage in various outdoor activities.

A key event, Beach Streets, is set to return on May 10, marking its first occurrence in West Long Beach. This event aims to promote the West Side Promise initiative, inviting participants to bring their bikes or skates to explore the designated route.

Additionally, the Long Beach Public Library is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a series of free family-friendly activities. This week’s offerings include a screening of the animated film "Moana" and craft sessions featuring traditional activities such as shavori, tiiday, and Khmer pottery.

The meeting also reminded young residents aged 11 to 14 about the opportunity to share their ideas for programs they would like to see in neighborhood parks. They can participate by completing an online survey or visiting a participating library in person until May 22.

These initiatives reflect Long Beach's commitment to community engagement and cultural celebration, providing residents with opportunities to connect and participate in local events.
