Regional Transportation Authority launches $1.5M funding call for eligible projects

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) has announced a significant opportunity for local agencies to secure funding for transportation projects, with $1.5 million available for the second half of the funding cycle. During the Transportation Advisory Committee meeting on April 28, 2025, officials opened a call for letters of interest, which will remain open until mid-June.

To qualify for this funding, projects must be included in the 20 and 50 regional transportation plans and must originate from local agencies or regional partners, excluding nonprofits. Notably, the funding is designated for planning purposes only, meaning projects that have already advanced to design or construction phases are not eligible unless they require additional planning work.

The selection process will involve a multi-agency panel reviewing the submitted letters of interest over the summer, with approvals expected by late July or August. This timeline aims to facilitate consultant selection and project scoping in the fall, potentially allowing for project kickoffs in the following year.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of addressing regional transportation challenges, particularly along key corridors such as Colfax, Sheridan, and Alameda. Committee members expressed appreciation for DRCOG's broader perspective on regional issues, emphasizing the need for collaborative solutions that extend beyond individual jurisdictions.
