Riley County Treasurer Hager reminds residents of upcoming tax payment deadline

Riley County Treasurer Shiloh Hager issued an urgent reminder during the May 5, 2025, Commission Meeting: the second half of 2024 property taxes are due on Monday, May 12. With the deadline approaching, Hager emphasized the importance of timely payments to avoid penalties, stating, "Interest will start accruing on Tuesday, May 13."

Hager noted that taxpayers should be proactive, advising, "I would probably start that this week," to ensure payments are postmarked by the deadline. He also highlighted that any delinquent personal property taxes could hinder motor vehicle transactions, stressing the need for residents to settle outstanding debts promptly.

For convenience, Hager outlined several payment options, including in-person payments at the Courthouse Plaza from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to 5 PM, and Fridays until noon. This reminder serves as a crucial alert for residents to avoid unnecessary fees and complications as the tax deadline approaches.
