Planning Commission elects Wilfred Fernandez as new chairperson

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Planning Commission convened on May 5, 2025, to discuss key resolutions and leadership changes. The meeting commenced with the unanimous approval of Resolution 25-07, following a motion by Commissioner McCabe and a second from Commissioner Collins. No objections were raised, allowing the resolution to pass smoothly.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the election of a new chairperson. With Commissioner Cohen stepping down, nominations were opened, and Commissioner Collins nominated Wilfred Fernandez for the position. The nomination was seconded, and with no further nominations presented, Fernandez was unanimously approved as the new chairperson. Fellow commissioners expressed their congratulations and confidence in his leadership.
