The City of Gallatin is moving forward with plans for a new multifamily and senior living development, aiming to meet community needs while enhancing local housing options. During a recent city council meeting, developers outlined their vision for a project that includes three to four-story multifamily units and age-restricted senior living facilities.
The developers emphasized flexibility in their plans, stating they are open to community input and market studies to determine the best approach. "We want to create a space that allows people to stay in the area without the burden of upkeep," one developer noted, highlighting the potential for both independent living and a step-down system for seniors.

The developers aim for a density of around 12 to 13 units per acre in the multifamily area, while the senior living section will maintain a lower density, ensuring a balanced community environment.
Concerns were raised about traffic and access to the development, particularly regarding connections to nearby roads and the hospital. City officials stressed the importance of aligning public street connections to support both the new development and existing infrastructure. "If we can't upgrade the private drive to a public street, it complicates access significantly," one council member pointed out.
As discussions continue, the developers are committed to refining their plans based on feedback from city officials and the community. The outcome of these discussions will be crucial in determining the project's direction and its potential impact on Gallatin's housing landscape.
