Chester County Council approves first reading for rezoning and industrial projects

Chester County officials took significant steps towards economic development during their recent meeting, approving the first readings of two key rezoning requests aimed at attracting new businesses to the area.

The first reading of CCMA 25-16 was passed with a vote of 6-1, setting the stage for further discussions in upcoming meetings. This approval is part of a broader effort to enhance local economic growth and development.

In a notable discussion, the council reviewed CCMA 25-17, which involves a request from DFI Partners to rezone approximately 3.02 acres on Cedarhurst Road from a limited industrial district to a general industrial district. The proposed business intends to build several holding tanks for liquid asphalt, which will be transported by rail and stored until needed for wholesale distribution.

The new business is expected to occupy only the upper half of the site, while plans for a separate 317,000 square foot industrial building on the remaining land are also in the works.
