This was their first time participating, and they proudly secured second place in the novice division. The team traveled with peers from neighboring schools, fostering a sense of community among the young coders. Their dedication and hard work, supported by their teacher, Miss McCarthy, were acknowledged as key factors in their success.
The meeting also highlighted a fourth-grade Oregon Trail simulation, where students engaged in hands-on learning outdoors. Dressed in pioneer garments, they cooked over a fire and participated in various games, creating an immersive educational experience that connected them with the history of the Western United States.
Additionally, the school celebrated Earth Day with a community event where students beautified the school grounds. Parents contributed mulch, and students planted flowers and cleaned up the area, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing their environment.
In new business, the PTO announced the success of their first annual golf tournament, which raised an impressive $30,000 despite the rainy conditions. This fundraising effort is expected to support various school initiatives and further strengthen community ties.
