McKinney Police recover stolen firearms and save shooting victim during two incidents

The meeting opened with a report detailing a police operation that took place on January 12, 2025. Officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex, where they discovered firearms and narcotics. Notably, a stolen Glock 19 pistol equipped with a Glock switch was recovered. This illegal device allows a semi-automatic pistol to fire in fully automatic mode, raising serious concerns about public safety. The firearm was linked to two murders in Dallas County, underscoring the critical nature of the police's efforts in removing dangerous weapons from the streets. Alongside the firearms, officers seized a substantial amount of narcotics, including THC vape pens and marijuana, further illustrating the ongoing battle against drug-related crime in the area.

The session also recognized Officer Matthew Hall for his heroic actions during a shooting incident on March 13, 2025. While on patrol, Officer Hall responded to a call about a shooting at the Red Roof Inn. He found a victim who had been shot and, despite the risk of gunfire, he bravely shielded her with his body while carrying her to safety. His quick response and selfless actions were credited with saving the victim's life, who was released from the hospital the following day. This incident was particularly poignant as it also involved the tragic loss of Canine Officer Ozzy, who was killed in the line of duty during the same event.

The meeting concluded with an invitation for public comments, although none were presented.
