North Mohave officials propose water rate increase to match neighboring cities

During the Bullhead City Council Work Session on May 6, 2025, a significant discussion centered on proposed water rate increases, highlighting the city's efforts to remain competitive while addressing rising operational costs.

City officials revealed that the current water bill for 17,000 gallons stands at $91.32, with a proposed increase to $93.84. However, a correction was made during the meeting, clarifying that the actual current bill should be $67.76, leading to a more accurate increase of $26.08. This adjustment underscores the city's commitment to transparency in its billing practices.

The council also discussed the installation costs for new water meters, which will remain fixed at $7,600 for service lines ranging from 5/8 inch to 2 inches, regardless of meter size. This decision aims to simplify the billing process, despite the complexity of tiered pricing for different meter sizes.

In comparison to neighboring cities, Bullhead City's proposed rates would position it at $39.16, still among the lowest in Northwest Arizona. Officials noted that while some cities have consistently raised their rates over the years, Bullhead City has not increased its rates in the past four years, maintaining affordability for its residents.
