The evening began with the Boy Scout Troop 121 leading the Pledge of Allegiance, setting a tone of community and respect.
The highlight of the meeting was the recognition of three teams from the Destination Imagination program, which encourages students to engage in creative problem-solving and teamwork. Subscribe for Free First to be recognized was the Clover Frogs, a team that showcased their talents at the Destination Imagination Tournament, where they placed second and earned a spot at the state level. Their project, centered on the theme "a small change can make a big difference," allowed them to explore the fine arts through character creation and costume design. Team members Deb Tiwari, Prisha Patel, Kirsten Peterson, and Eliana Kadamala beamed with pride as they received certificates and pins for their hard work.
Next, the board acknowledged a team named "All Roads Lead to Imagination," which included Ariela Flores from Maidu Elementary School. Although they did not attend the state competition, their project emphasized teamwork and creativity, earning them fourth place in the tournament.
Finally, Team Stormy, comprised of students from Green Hills Elementary School, captured the audience's attention with their unique focus on tornadoes. Their project, which involved staying safe during severe weather, showcased their innovative thinking and collaboration. Team members Shayla Fasiherad and Grafton McCreary were present to accept their awards, while their team manager, Christy Hanlon, was recognized for her support.
Dr. Myers reflected on the importance of the Destination Imagination program, recalling her own children's experiences and the dedication required from parents and team managers.
