Davie County Schools celebrated a remarkable evening of musical and vocational achievements during the DCS Board of Education meeting on May 6, 2025. The spotlight shone brightly on the talented students of Davie County High School, particularly the concert band and wind ensemble, who recently earned superior ratings at the Music Performance Adjudication (MPA).
Derek James, a CTE teacher and former band director, highlighted the success of the concert band, primarily composed of freshmen, who achieved top ratings in their first year. The wind ensemble, the school's highest orchestra, also received straight superiors, showcasing the dedication and talent of these young musicians. James encouraged community support for the upcoming musical, which will feature a live pit orchestra for the first time in Davie County history.

Subscribe for Free Anne Wilson, president of the Davie Band Boosters, took the stage to recognize students who excelled in the Northwest District all-district bands. Out of over 2,000 competitors, several students earned spots, demonstrating their skill and commitment to music. Notably, Ethan Diemer and Eric Pope were celebrated for their selection to the prestigious North Carolina All-State Bands, a significant honor reflecting their hard work and artistry.
The meeting also recognized the achievements of students in the SkillsUSA program, which empowers students to become skilled professionals. North Davie Middle School and William Ellis Middle School showcased their first-year successes, with students earning top placements in various competitions at the state level. Highlights included Ella Reynolds, who won first place for reciting the SkillsUSA creed, and a team from William Ellis that excelled in promotional bulletin board design.
As the meeting concluded, the accomplishments of Davie County students in both music and vocational skills were celebrated, underscoring the district's commitment to fostering talent and excellence. The community is encouraged to support these young achievers as they continue to represent Davie County with pride.
