The Winter Haven Planning Commission has taken a significant step towards enhancing the downtown area by approving a special use request for a large-scale drinking establishment. During the meeting on May 6, 2025, the commission reviewed a proposal from LFG FTW LLC to establish the Sage Cocktail Lounge at 99 Third Street Northwest, a prime location directly across from the city’s library and parking garage.
The proposed lounge will occupy approximately 2,200 square feet and feature a diverse seating arrangement, including high-top tables, standard tables, and a bar area that accommodates 25 patrons. The establishment plans to operate from noon to 2 AM Monday through Saturday and until midnight on Sundays. A security plan developed in collaboration with the chief of police has also been approved, ensuring safety measures are in place for patrons.

City staff highlighted that the establishment aligns with Winter Haven's long-term goals to enhance the social, cultural, and business landscape of the downtown area. The commission's recommendation for approval is expected to foster a vibrant atmosphere, contributing positively to the community's growth and development.
As the city moves forward with this initiative, residents can anticipate a new venue that not only enriches the local nightlife but also supports the ongoing revitalization of Winter Haven's downtown core.
