Milwaukee County DOT reveals rail with trails feasibility study for Thirtieth Street Corridor

Milwaukee County's Committee on Transportation and Transit spotlighted an exciting new initiative during their recent hybrid meeting, focusing on a feasibility study for a shared bicycle and pedestrian path along the Thirtieth Street Corridor. This project, known as the "Veil of Trails," aims to connect Hank Aaron's Veil to Havenwoods State Forest, enhancing mobility and recreational opportunities for residents.

Danny Park, a transportation planner with the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation (DOT), introduced the project, emphasizing its potential to promote active transportation in the area. The study is funded by a grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation's transportation alternatives program, showcasing a commitment to improving local infrastructure.

Cassie Goodwin and Greg Calpino, both senior principals from the Smith Group, joined Park in presenting the details of the project. They highlighted the importance of creating safe and accessible pathways for cyclists and pedestrians, which could significantly benefit the community by encouraging outdoor activities and reducing reliance on vehicles.
