A proposal to acquire a baby grand piano for the Roosevelt City Library sparked enthusiasm during the Roosevelt City Council meeting on May 6, 2025. The piano, priced at $5,500, is seen as a valuable addition to the library, providing a space for community gatherings, practice sessions, and events such as bridal shows.
Council members expressed strong support for the initiative, with several offering to contribute funds personally to help secure the piano. "I think it’s a good thing for the community to have something like that," said one council member, highlighting the potential benefits of having the instrument available for public use.

Council members agreed that it would be prudent to have an expert evaluate the instrument to ensure it meets quality standards. "We want to make sure that, you know, you have somebody that knows a little bit about that if we're going to invest some money," one member noted.
The proposal will be placed on the agenda for the next meeting, allowing for further discussion and budget considerations. The council is optimistic about the possibility of funding the purchase without relying solely on taxpayer money, thanks to the willingness of community members to contribute.
In addition to the piano discussion, the council ratified two new appointments to the Arts, Parks, and Recreation Committee. Courtney Betts, who manages the local farmer's market, and Ashley Coolant, the new director of the Duchesne County Chamber of Commerce, were both welcomed as valuable additions to the committee.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to approve the new committee members, marking a productive session focused on enhancing community resources and engagement.
