LCPS transitions to ParentSquare for unified school-parent communication

Las Cruces Public Schools is set to streamline communication between teachers and parents with the upcoming transition to a single platform, ParentSquare. During the Board of Education meeting on May 6, 2025, officials discussed the importance of consolidating various communication tools to enhance clarity and accessibility for families.

The move to ParentSquare aims to replace multiple existing platforms, including Remind and InTouch, which have created confusion among parents and educators. By adopting one unified system, the district hopes to ensure that all stakeholders receive consistent messages and updates. Board members emphasized the need for fidelity in communication, noting that while some teachers may still use alternative methods, the goal is to encourage adherence to the new platform.

In addition to improving communication, the integration of ParentSquare will allow for two-way messaging between parents and teachers, making it easier for families to engage with their children's education. Parents will need to register to use the platform, but they will have the option to access it via both mobile devices and desktop computers.

Recognizing that some parents may require assistance with the new technology, the district plans to offer support through various channels. This includes potential Zoom meetings and in-person help sessions, particularly during registration and open house events. The aim is to ensure that all parents, including guardians and grandparents, feel comfortable using the new system.

As Las Cruces Public Schools prepares for this transition, the focus remains on fostering effective communication that supports student success and keeps families informed.
